A man has been arrested for allegedly making more than 500 false pandemic payment claims worth approximately $60,000.
Victoria Police discovered large quantities of counterfeit equipment at a home in Melbourne’s west during a fraud investigation into COVID-19 temporary isolation payments lodged during the pandemic.
Detectives seized a card printer, stamping machine, driver’s licenses, fake Medicare and other identification cards, cell phone signal jammers and phones, tablets and computers at a Braybrook home, police said Friday.

A 41-year-old Braybrook man has been arrested and is expected to be charged by summons with offenses of deception and fraudulent documents.
“More than 500 fraudulent COVID-19 grant applications will be alleged to have been successfully submitted under a variety of false names worth almost $60,000 between 2020 and 2021,” police said in a statement.
The investigation is ongoing.
