Hot Entry: Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Heads to London This Weekend
Premier Inn owner Whitbread said business has been boosted by the Taylor Swift Eras tour. The hotel giant said sales in the three months to the end of May rose just 1 per cent on a year earlier, reaching £739m.
But he added that the start of the American superstar’s European tour, which began in Edinburgh this month and moved to Cardiff last night before heading to London this weekend, was generating business.
Whitbread said the tour had attracted a “significant volume of guests to our hotels”. “Taylor Swift is one of our key events booked for this summer alongside the Edinburgh Fringe and Wimbledon, supporting our strengthening business momentum as we enter our peak demand period,” a spokesperson added.
The European soccer championship in Germany and the Olympic Games in Paris are expected to boost demand for travel and hotel rooms this summer.
The shares rose 1.8 per cent to 2,955 pence.
