Howie Mandel revealed that his wife Terry Soil suffered a devastating facial injury after a recent night of partying during his appearance on Live With Kelly And Mark on Monday.
The 68-year-old comedian and America’s Got Talent judge told the shocked hosts that he found his wife lying in a pool of blood after being woken up by a loud noise in the middle of the night during a recent trip to Las Vegas.
Howie said the two had “partied” but it was “too much” for his “drunken” wife of more than 40 years, although he said he didn’t realize she had had too much to drink before going to bed.
“In the middle of the night he got up and, I don’t know where he was going, he crashed into the wall,” he explained. And she fell and hit the paneling. She hit that as she fell.
“He slipped, fell, hit his eye, then fell to the ground and broke his cheek,” he said as Kelly Ripa grimaced at the description of the injury.

Howie shared a photo of Terry’s injuries, which included lacerations to his forehead and cheek, a black eye, and a huge purple bruise.
‘I heard “bang” and “ahh,” and I woke up and said, “Where are you?” Howie continued. And she said, “I don’t know.” That’s what she said.’
The audience was then able to see the extent of Terry’s injuries from a close-up photo of the top half of his face, although thankfully it was after his cuts were cleaned and the blood was wiped from his face.
He had a large diagonal cut down the center of his face that was surrounded by a purple bruise and he had a fainter red cut that went all the way to the top of his nose.
Terry’s left eye was swollen with discoloration that covered the upper eyelid and ran down to the top of his cheek, with a blood-encrusted cut running along the bottom of the bruise.
He also appeared to have another smaller cut or bruise on the bottom of his cheek, just to the left of his upper lip.
He appeared to have the top of his head wrapped and it was unclear if there was any damage beyond the part of his face shown.
Howie went on to explain how he discovered the shocking sight of his wife covered in her own blood.
‘I turn on the light, I look, I look around the bed. She is in the corner, face down, and she didn’t know that she had cut off her head. But the blood is pooling,” she explained.
Howie said the two had been drinking, but he didn’t realize how drunk his wife was. She got up in the middle of the night and fell, which woke him up. He found her in a pool of blood.
After trying to use a cold can to bring down the swelling, Terry threw it aside due to the pain. ‘When he did that, I saw her head and you could actually see her skull. “It opened up,” she said, surprising the presenters and the audience.
Howie has been open in the past about his struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and germophobia, but those issues didn’t stop him from rushing to help his bleeding wife.
‘I panic. I picked her up, put her on the bed. There’s blood everywhere,’ she recalled. ‘I went and grabbed all the towels, and all the towels are covered in blood. And she says, “Bring me ice. Bring me ice.”
“I don’t know where to get ice,” he added jokingly.
He opted for the best option to reduce some of the bloating: a can of cold drink from the in-room minibar.
But Terry was in so much pain that she took the can away from him after he touched her directly on the forehead and threw it across the hotel room.
Howie then attempted to wrap two cans in a towel, but again threw them aside due to intense pain.
‘When he did that, I saw his head and you could actually see his skull. “He opened up,” she said as gasps emanated from the audience. ‘I was scared.’
Instead of calling 911 directly for emergency help, Howie called the front desk and asked staff to call 911, but they insisted on checking the situation upstairs before calling for medical help.
He joked that they might have thought he had caused his wife’s injuries, as the room was covered in blood and cans were scattered throughout the room, which staff documented with photographs as he pleaded with them to call 911.

Terry was still drunk in the hospital, but Howie said she made a full recovery. ‘There is no scar. She is beautiful’; seen with his America’s Got Talent co-stars Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell and Sofia Vergara.
After arriving at the hospital, Howie recounted a funny moment when his wife started freaking out and calling a doctor.
She was still very drunk, so the doctor was able to help her calm down by simply removing the sheet covering half of her face, which she apparently didn’t realize was blocking her vision.
Fortunately, Terry has since made a full recovery.
“She’s absolutely perfect,” Howie assured Kelly and Mark. ‘There is no scar. She is beautiful.’
