anderson silva and Chael Sonnen They had no intention of getting hurt when they stepped into the ring for a boxing match Saturday in Brazil.
In a combat sports trilogy fight between the pair, Silva and Sonnen sparred lightly over five two-minute rounds of exhibition boxing in front of a private audience at Spaten Fight Night in Sao Paulo.
Both men landed some clean shots to the head, and Silva bloodied Sonnen’s nose toward the end of the fight, but there was never any threat of a knockdown or knockout.
With no finish and no judges, the fight between UFC Hall of Famer and former UFC middleweight champion Silva and Sonnen ended in a draw.

The final meeting between the historic rivals is probably already in the books.
Silva defeated Sonnen by fifth round submission at UFC 117 in August 2010 to defend his UFC middleweight title in a fight that will be inducted into the fight wing of the UFC Hall of Fame later this month.
They would have a rematch at UFC 148 in July 2012, which Silva won. by technical knockout in the second round.
Despite the heated nature of their UFC feud, Silva, 48, and Sonnen, 47, formed a friendly relationship in the years since. This was proven after their boxing match when the couple hugged each other.
