Lauren Sánchez stepped out with her fiancé Jeff Bezos at a party before the annual Met Gala, wearing a skimpy black number in the wake of Anna Wintour’s criticism of her fashion sense.
Sanchez, 54, and Bezos, 60, attended the Monse Maison Pre-Met Celebration Cocktail Party held at La Mercerie in New York City on Sunday night.
She wore a striking, sheer, tight-fitting black dress that seemed to mock Wintour, who is rumored to not like the type of outfits she usually wears.
The couple stopped briefly to take photos with fashion designer Fernando García and Laura Kim, creative director of Oscar de la Renta.
The fiancee of Amazon’s billionaire founder has also been criticized by other famous figures in New York society, such as salty restaurateur Keith McNally.

DailyMail.com reported last week that Wintour has decreed that the future Mrs. Bezos can reach $75,000 to $350,000 per table ball only if Wintour has a say in what she wears.
A source recently told Wintour biographer Amy Odell that the famously demanding editor knows Sanchez has “bad taste” and is willing to personally help her select a dress.
Sanchez is known for wearing the kind of outfits that leave little of her gym-toned, surgically-enhanced assets to the imagination.
“Anna doesn’t always get personally involved in what guests wear,” Odell wrote, adding that she was working with Sanchez to choose between custom designs from the classic Oscar de la Renta style and two other as-yet-unnamed designers.
Perhaps Sanchez’s photo with Oscar de la Renta’s creative director Kim was a nod to Wintour’s wishes.
Given that celebrities have often worn extravagant outfits at the Met Gala, Wintour’s rumored swipe amounts to a resounding statement of distrust.
Wintour is apparently not alone in her criticism of how Sanchez dresses, as broadcaster Megyn Kelly recently said she “looked like a prostitute” in Milan and continues to feel the brunt of Keith McNally.
On Sunday, New York’s best-known restaurateur McNally took to Instagram to offer a half-hearted apology and dragged those who criticized him for recently commenting on Sanchez’s appearance, calling it “absolutely disgusting.”
“Of course it’s wrong to criticize someone you don’t know (sorry, Hitler), especially when they’re as healthy and natural as Sanchez looks in the photo above,” McNally said.

She wore a striking, sheer, tight-fitting black dress for the night.
‘I apologize for my post on April 15 where, because I was stone sober, I called the beauty flying in a helicopter “disgusting looking.”
Jokes aside, the fact that Sanchez spent a fortune on plastic surgery doesn’t make her “disgusting.” In fact, most of the disgusting people I know haven’t spent a dime on plastic surgery,” she said.
In his April 15 post, McNally, seemingly unprovoked, posted a series of photos of the couple with the caption: “Does anyone else find Jeff Bezos’ new wife, Lauren Sanchez, ABSOLUTELY REVOLTANT?”
‘What an ugly, fucking stuck-up couple they make. Is this what having $1,000 billion does to people?’
On Sunday, McNally criticized people who spoke out in Sanchez’s defense, including his famous friends.
“While 90 percent of the 3,000 comments I received on my post about Sanchez were light and funny, and in keeping with the post, the comments I received from the wives of other billionaires were unfunny and strange,” McNally said.
‘The Unfunniest was from comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s wife (whom I adore): Jessica Seinfeld. Seinfeld must have been embarrassed by her comment because she quickly deleted it.
‘Here’s part of it: “THIS POST IS A REFLECTION OF YOUR TWISTED, REGRETTABLE, HORRIBLE MIND. LAUREN HAS TWICE THE CHARACTER OF YOU.”‘
New York City restaurateur Keith McNally slammed those who criticized him for calling Lauren Sanchez disgusting.
‘”Twisted, pitiful and gruesome.” That bastard must have read my memoirs,” he said.
Since her affair with Bezos was revealed in 2019, she has immersed herself in philanthropy.
In March, she became vice president of the Bezos Earth Fund, which funds research on biomanufacturing and climate change.
The couple has also instituted a $100 million Courage and Civility Award for people who serve the community. Winners so far include Dolly Parton and actress Eva Longoria.
They made their first public appearance together in May 2019 and four years later, they got engaged in May 2023.
The bride-to-be spoke about the moment Bezos asked her to marry him in an interview published in the November issue of Vogue.
She recalled how he popped the question on her yacht after enjoying a romantic dinner together under the stars.
Bezos hid the pink diamond engagement ring under his pillow and admitted he almost “fainted” when he saw it.
Sanchez said they were in the early stages of planning their nuptials, noting that at the time she was more focused on the billionaire’s 60th birthday party.
