A touring American singer has been accused of sending expletive-filled messages to Australians asking why he didn’t pay all bills submitted by pole dancers who performed or worked for him on his recent tour.
American singer Jeremih, best known for his 2009 single ‘Birthday Sex’, appeared as a special guest of rapper 50 Cent at various venues in Australia and New Zealand in December last year.
Members of the Grammy-nominated artist’s staff booked stage equipment, which required an experienced instructor to set up, and a pole dancer through the Sydney-based Pole Dancing Academy, run by former corporate lawyer Michelle Shimmy.
The pole dancer ended up on tour with Jeremih and performed at eight concerts over two weeks.

But when both women sent invoices for their work, Jeremih’s staff rejected them.
The instructor who had helped set up the equipment was never paid for her work, and after negotiation, the Pole Dancing Academy was ultimately only paid for the rental of the equipment.
Mrs Shimmy claims she was forced to pay her instructor’s labor costs from equipment rental fees.
But Jeremih’s staff allegedly told the dancer who toured with the hit singer that they thought she was doing it just for “work experience” and “exposure,” even though they had discussed payment.
Outraged by how her staff member was being treated, Shimmy criticized Jeremih on her Instagram page last week.
His employee ultimately received less than half of her bill, and Jeremih’s staff claimed they only paid some out of “kindness.”
‘He was paid well below industry standards for the work he did. “She lost 100 per cent money on tour,” Shimmy told Daily Mail Australia.
Jeremih has since been accused of sending abusive messages to anyone who criticized him, calling them “broken hoes.”
“Maybe they are broke because people like your team are not honoring their contract and not paying them what they owe,” one person wrote to the singer.
Jeremih replied, “I don’t give a damn about the shorty, it bounces.”

Shimmy criticized the singer’s “audacity.”
‘They were huge concerts. “I don’t understand why this guy would think someone would take two weeks off to go on tour with him and work for free,” he said.
‘He’s not a charity, he’s not a non-profit organisation. It’s work.’
He added: “It’s amazing not to pay someone and then make fun of them for being broke.”

Ms. Shimmy ended her latest Instagram update with a sarcastic plea to the supposedly stingy singer.
“Jeremiah, how about you take some time out of your busy schedule accusing other people of being broke and pay your artists properly, because we’re all starting to think you’re the ‘broke hoe’?” said Mrs. Shimmy.
Daily Mail Australia approached Jeremih on Monday afternoon for comment and has yet to receive a response.
