- Daniel Faalele has been impressing in the NFL
- He has helped Baltimore go 5-2 this season.
- He appeared in their win over the Buccaneers on Tuesday.
Australian NFL star Daniel Faalele left some fans scratching their heads after a video of him completing a rather bizarre act went viral on social media.
The 24-year-old Victorian has been impressing in the NFL lately, having played in seven games this season, most notably helping the Baltimore Ravens go 5-0 so far this season.
On Tuesday, the Ravens earned a 31-41 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But a funny moment seemed to unfold as the players returned to the locker room at half-time.
Faalele was seen walking through the Raymond James Stadium tunnel with the rest of his playing group, but appeared to be in the zone as several of his teammates appeared to be walking in a different direction around a concrete pillar.
Faalele looked like he was going to go around the post, but at the last moment he saw that his team was going in the opposite direction and turned around before going around the obstruction and joining them walking inside the pillar.
The bizarre moment left some scratching their heads online, with X user @BarstoolBanks writing: “Daniel Faalele – great ‘don’t break the pole’ guy.”
There is a superstition among some called “do not split the pole”, according to which a person can bring themselves bad luck by walking alongside another group of people and moving on a different route to avoid an obstacle compared to the rest of the group.
It seems the 6ft 8in guard may have that superstition too, and some, including NRL star Josh Addo-Carr and Latrell Mitchell, apparently laughed off the incident.
Australian NFL star Daniel Faalele seemed reluctant to be separated from his teammates by a concrete pillar when the Baltimore Ravens entered the locker room on Tuesday.
Mitchell reposted the clip to her Instagram Stories, tagging Addo-Carr, before posting two “smiley face” emoji and the caption: “Yo bro.”
Addo-Carr responded by posting three “smiley face” emojis on her Instagram Story.
Faalele made his debut for the Ravens in 2022, making 16 appearances for the club. He played his first football game in 2017, after a coach at the University of Hawaii discovered him.
But fans praised him for his act, with one writing in an X: “Never break the pole.”
‘The things the stat sheet doesn’t show. Team guy,” said another.
Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo-Carr also reposted the clip to their Instagram Stories, captioning it with several “smiley face” emojis.

“Splitting the pole is never worth the risk,” said one, while another X user added: “I thought everyone respected the no-split rule.”
“Game winner,” one wrote while another added: “Team chemistry +10.”
