But scientists have concluded that there are marked differences in other types of hygiene between men and women.
Men in 47 countries around the world were less concerned about hygiene than women, according to a 2022 study by the Stockholm Institute for Future Studies founded.
The study used data from a survey that asked people when it was important to wash their hands and how they felt about spitting.
