Laura Chalmers made sure all eyes were on her on Wednesday night when she stepped out at the Midwinter Ball in Canberra.
As many Australians are feeling the effects of a cost-of-living crisis, Ms Chalmers was happy to show off her style credentials in a $3,375 ensemble as she posed alongside her husband, Treasurer Jim Chalmers.
Ms Chalmers dressed her slender figure in a pale blue Rebecca Vallance gown worth a staggering $1,500.
The elegant style features a rounded neckline, cinched waist and princess seams to enhance your slender figure, before falling into a column skirt.
It seems that Ms Chalmers did not like the original design and opted to make alterations to it that evening, discarding the cape’s short sleeves which featured an ornate feather design.
The journalist opted to keep her accessories to a minimum at the event, carrying her valuables in a $150 Oroton clutch.
Ms Chalmers appeared to complete her striking ensemble with a pair of beige ‘Nicole’ pumps by Le Silla made from sheer mesh with a pointed-toe silhouette.
The Italian-made footwear, embellished with sparkling crystals, sells for $1,725.

This is not the first time Chalmers has shown off her fashion flair at a political event.
The former political adviser turned magazine editor, 40, was spotted wearing an $899 yellow Carla Zampatti dress and matching $999 jacket as she watched the presentation of her third Federal Budget in Parliament in May.
She was sitting with her two children, Leo and Annabel, and next to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s fiancée, Jodie Haydon.
