The horrific moment two teenagers allegedly punched an elderly man outside a Queensland shopping center has been captured on film.

Footage circulating online showed the youths allegedly repeatedly assaulting the man outside Westfield in Carindale in Brisbane last month.

One of the teenagers allegedly continued to throw punches as the man fell to the ground, until a bystander intervened to try to pull them away.

Queensland Police told Daily Mail Australia that a boy from Tanah Merah, 15, and a boy from Coorparoo, 16, have been charged over the incident, which they allege took place at 2.30pm on February 27.

They said the man contacted emergency services and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

A separate video has also emerged of the pair throwing punches at a shopping center bus stop along Creek Road, but it has not yet been determined whether the two incidents are related.

Social media users called the ordeal “disgusting” and many said young people are not afraid because the law is too “soft.”

“The law of detention as a last resort means that judges must apply a series of measures before they can be detained,” one person commented.
