Videos that have flooded social media appear to show the 34-year-old fighting off several attackers, throwing punches before staff and security intervene.
In the footage, a man, said to be Newton, attempts to fend off several men, one of whom throws a punch in the direction of the quarterback.
According reportsthe fight took place at a 7-on-7 soccer tournament at the Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy in Georgia.
Newton, who last played for the Panthers in 2021, is believed to have been attending an event organized by his foundation, C1N, which organizes 7-on-7 football across the country.
