The shocking video, which was uploaded to TikTok on Saturday, appears to show a USPS employee removing mail containers from his truck and then throwing them into the trash.
The concerned neighbour, who filmed the video from a window of her home, narrated the clip in shock: “This mailman is throwing people’s mail in the dumpster.”
After the video garnered millions of views in just two days, a Nashville postal worker has been placed on off-duty status and the local Office of the Inspector General is investigating the incident.

He then returned to the dumpster and appeared to be rearranging the trash so that the mail would be better hidden.
“Oh my God,” said the woman who recorded the video, horrified. “People are sending their checks and bills in the mail.”
He went on to explain how the postal worker originally had two bins in the front of the truck, each of which he emptied into the dumpster.
“Now he’s emptying what’s behind,” he said.
At that point, the unknown employee could be seen leaning towards the back of the mail truck. He then exited the vehicle again with another tray full of mail, moving back and forth between the two with countless mail items.
“Don’t tell me this is legal. Please don’t tell me this is what you do to get rid of email,” the TikToker said.

The alleged postal worker then returned to his truck, where he took out more mail to throw away.
As the alleged postal worker walked from his truck to the dumpster, he looked over his shoulder, apparently worried that he might be seen.
The woman filming the video noticed this and said: “He’s looking around to make sure people aren’t watching.”
“He keeps looking to make sure no one is watching him,” the TikToker said.
She added: “But I look… I look really good.”
In the comments section, countless viewers expressed their horror at what they had seen.
