Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s rekindled romance was “doomed from the start” as the singer has a history of “hasty marriages”, a relationship expert has suggested.
Speaking to FEMAIL, London-based dating coach Kate Mansfield revealed that while the couple seemed “idyllic” to many, there are several reasons at play as to why the pop star, 55, filed for divorce on the second anniversary of her stunning Georgia wedding ceremony with the actor, 52.
Jennifer is clearly a “hopeless romantic, eager to find a deep and meaningful connection,” she said.
‘On the contrary, Ben was going through a rebound phase after a serious relationship.
‘This mismatch in emotional readiness meant that while Jen was searching for lasting love, Ben may have been looking for comfort rather than commitment.’
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s rekindled romance was “doomed from the start” as the singer has a history of “rushing into marriage,” a relationship expert has suggested.
Kate also believes the couple were eager to start their life together and may have rushed to spend some much-needed time relearning who they are.
“Instead of taking the time to cement their relationship, they jumped right into an engagement,” she continued.
‘This rushed pace often prevents couples from addressing potential conflicts or understanding each other’s deeper needs and values.
‘For Bennifer, this meant overlooking fundamental differences that could affect their long-term compatibility.’
To further complicate matters, there was public pressure on the famous couple to make it work.
“Their relationship was under constant media scrutiny,” Kate said. “This pressure can distort genuine feelings, pushing couples to make decisions (such as getting engaged) before fully understanding their compatibility.
‘The focus on their celebrity status often overshadows the personal aspects of their relationship and distorts reality.’
She also felt that perhaps Ben missed “serious red flags” in the way Jennifer approaches marriage.

‘Lopez’s marriages were even the focus of her Can’t Get Enough music video,’ Kate continued.
‘Maybe Ben needed some training before jumping so fast?’
Jennifer finally confirmed rumors that had been circulating for months when she filed for divorce from husband Ben on Tuesday.
The shocking legal documents, which were obtained by DailyMail.com, were filed just over two years after the couple tied the knot. in a stunning wedding ceremony at their $8.9 million mansion in Georgia, surrounded by family, friends and celebrities.
The celebrity couple known as ‘Bennifer’ stunned the audience with Jennifer wearing a stunning white Ralph Lauren couture gown with a long train and veil, while Ben looked dapper in a complementary black and white tuxedo.
Photos taken from above showed the picture-perfect celebrities hugging each other with smiles on a waterside jetty outside their sprawling mansion and as they walked along a snow-white altar set up especially for the day.
But the two, who will have to agree on a way to divide their $640 million net worth without a prenuptial agreement, have been plagued by signs of trouble in paradise for quite some time before Jennifer decided to make their split official.
In the final months of their marriage, they had been seen in increasingly awkward and tense public encounters that, in retrospect, indicated their marriage was potentially doomed.
JLo and Ben began dating in 2002 after meeting on the set of the film Gigli, and quickly got engaged.
But they separated in 2004, just before becoming husband and wife.
They both married other people (she exchanged vows with Mac Anthony in 2004, while he married Jennifer Garner in 2005), but after splitting from their respective partners, they eventually got back together.
They rekindled their love in 2021 and tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022.
But now, after months of constant rumors that her marriage was ending, Jennifer has filed for divorce.
She indicated that the separation date would be April 26, 2024, according to legal documents seen by DailyMail.com.
The couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement before getting married, confidential sources revealed.
Ben previously spoke about wanting to keep his relationship “private” in JLo’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told.
The film followed the making of her final album, This Is Me… Now, much of which was inspired by her romance with Ben.
During one part of the film, Ben admitted that he was “shocked” when he found his musicians looking through his private love letters that JLo had given them to look at as inspiration for their next album.
The actor had held on to his correspondence with the singer throughout his 13-year marriage to Garner, then had the letters and emails bound into a book to gift to her when they reunited in 2021.
