Wallabies star Kurtley Beale is considering a shock move to rugby league as he looks to put a year of horror behind him.
Beale, 35, was found not guilty last week of allegations he sexually assaulted a woman in the bathroom of a Bondi bar after a grueling two-week trial.
Beale faced a jury trial at Sydney’s Downing Central Court after pleading not guilty to sexual intercourse without consent and two counts of sexual touching.
It marks the end of a year-long court saga for Beale after Rugby Australia dropped him from the NSW Waratahs following his arrest in January 2023.
Beale has not played a football game since the charges, but now says he is open to a code change.

“I’ve always been a big fan of the league. Growing up in Mt Druitt, I would always watch the league on the weekends and pick up little bits of different players to add to my game.
“There is interest in both codes.”
Beale says he has stayed in excellent shape training with renowned speed coach Roger Fabri.
“For 12 months there has been no other interference,” Fabri said.
‘He has been able to focus on being an athlete without bumps, bruises or injuries.
“Now he’s moving fire.”
Beale said he has always been a fan of rugby league and a move is a genuine possibility.
Beale wants to focus on his wife Maddie and new baby after the most difficult year of his life.
“I think overall I’m relieved, now I can put last year behind me,” he said.
‘There are certainly mistakes I’m not proud of. They are a huge job for me, to be a better person in the future.
“I’m not a perfect person, but I will do everything I can to take the right steps in the relationships I have in my life.”
