Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu’s popularity extends far beyond the local borders. Recently the railway Kurchi Madathapetti of his recent release Guntur Kaaram was played at the Toyota Center in Houston, America. This happened during halftime of the NBA game between the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks. The video of several dancers grooving to the peppy track – and belting out the popular hook step – has now gone viral on several social media platforms. The film’s official page also shared the video of Mahesh’s performance with the caption: “Witness the #KurchiMadathaPetti mania spreads worldwide! In January, Mahesh Babu revealed how a particular scene plays out Guntur Kaaram – where he had to smoke a beedi – gave him headaches and migraines. During a conversation with actress and presenter Suma KanakalaMahesh said, “I don’t smoke and I don’t encourage smoking. It was an Ayurvedic beedi made from clove leaves. Initially, they gave me a real beedi, and eventually I started getting migraines and headaches. I went to tell Trivikram about it garu (Srinivas) that I cannot do this and we were wondering how to go about it. Then he did his research and the team gave me this Ayurvedic beedi. It was made from clove leaves and had a mint flavor. There was no tobacco in it.”
Mahesh Babu will next be seen in a project directed by SS Rajamouli. During his recent trip to Japan, the filmmaker shared an update. He revealed, “We have started work on my next film. We have completed the writing. We are in the pre-production process. We do all the pre-visualization for the film. But we’re not done with the casting yet. Only the main hero, the main character of the film, is locked up. His name is Mahesh Babu. He is a Telugu actor.
The audience responded with enthusiastic applause when they heard Mahesh Babu’s name. SS Rajamouli continued, “Looks like many of you already know him. He is very handsome and hopefully we can finish the movie a little quickly. During the release I will bring him here. And I will introduce him to you and I am sure you will love him too.’
Along with the video on X (formerly Twitter), a fan page wrote: “SSR over #SSMB29 We’ve finished writing and are now in pre-production.
