Police are reportedly investigating the sleeping arrangements of an influencer and her young son after the six-week-old baby died in his sleep.

Veruca Salt, whose real name is Kimberley Summer Hartley, revealed in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Tuesday that her six-week-old son Cash had “died in his sleep” the previous morning.

Detectives are now believed to be investigating how the baby slept before the tragic incident, the Mail.

Police arrived at the 25-year-old’s Southport unit this week, but detectives have already ruled out suspicious circumstances and are preparing a report for the state coroner.

In response to an inquiry from Daily Mail Australia, Queensland Police said: ‘Police are preparing a report for the coroner. What aspects of the death are part of that report are a matter for the state coroner, and it would be unusual for any particular aspect to be highlighted.

While the news sparked great sadness among Veruca’s fans, it also prompted keyboard warriors to take aim at the grieving new mother as she tries to deal with the devastating loss.

The 25-year-old responded to a viewer who questioned how she could continue filming and uploading videos to the platform after the death of her newborn.

‘I don’t hate, but I don’t know how people can make TikToks right after their kids have died. Like setting up the camera, voiceovers, editing,” the person wrote.

“I was in bed for weeks, a complete disaster. RIP.’

Veruca responded Wednesday night.

‘Your baby is not dead, mine is,’ Veruca replied.

“I was literally talking about this with my friends, like it didn’t take a long time to do something for people to say ‘this is not how I would act’ from people who are literally imagining what it would be like,” he said.

‘You have no idea, because your baby is not dead. Mine is, and I found it that way and it’s not happening to you.

“And if it were happening to you, you would know that bed is the last place you want to be, because God forbid you fall asleep.”

‘Every time you wake up you will forget, you will go look for your baby and he won’t be there.

‘And you’re going to be in someone else’s house, in someone else’s bed because no one is going to leave you alone.

And you won’t want to go back to your bed. You won’t want to come home because your baby is all over the house.

‘You have no idea the things that go through my head every five seconds.

‘I feel crazy. I feel crazy. And you don’t understand it.

Followers quickly jumped to Veruca’s defense and assured her that she didn’t have to explain her actions.

‘Everyone grieves very differently. Please never feel like you have to explain yourself. Don’t let people tell you to be strong and stop crying,” one woman wrote.

Another added: ‘YOU grieve however you have to. Post 1000 times a day or nothing. F who has a problem. “No one knows this kind of pain unless they have suffered a loss of this magnitude.”

It comes just hours after Veruca posted a video of her sobbing into her hands, with one of Cash’s monkeys hanging in the background.

She captioned the video: “I knew he was dead, but there was a part of me that really thought they were going to wake him up.”

Earlier Wednesday, Veruca shared a video of her smiling newborn.

She could be heard saying, ‘Oh my God, I love you so much.’ You know? You know how much I love You?

Cash smiled and Veruca laughed at the video captioned with a broken heart emoji.

On Sunday, Veruca revealed on TikTok that the couple were on Cash’s “first trip to the hospital” because he “hasn’t pooped in seven days.”

She cradled Cash in her arms as she fawned over the boy dressed in a onesie adorned with sea animals, pelicans and lighthouses, unaware that she was spending her precious last hours with him.

After returning from the hospital on Sunday, Veruca assured fans that Cash was “doing fine” in the comments of the video.

A fan of hers wrote in a comment that her children had the same problem as little Cash ‘because I was breastfeeding and it was totally natural.’

Veruca replied, “Yeah, that’s why I’m not too panicked because it’s actually okay, I just wanted to check it out.”

Hours later, her little boy died.

“I write this with great regret. “My baby died in his sleep on Monday morning,” she wrote.

“I don’t know what happened, they’re doing an autopsy this week, but it’s unlikely I’ll ever get an answer.”

“I’m only saying this because people are still commenting on my TikToks saying how happy I look with him and ‘just wait for the kid stage’ and stuff, and I really can’t take it anymore.” Very sorry.’

Queensland Police said initial investigations indicate the death was not suspicious.

“At the moment it is still under investigation and we are awaiting the results of the autopsy,” Gold Coast Superintendent Craig Hanlon said.

“It’s obviously a tragic situation and our hearts go out to the mother and the family.”

Police confirmed they were called to a unit in Southport at around 6.13am on Monday.
