Two people are dead after a plane crashed into a home in northern Colorado, sparking a fire that destroyed two properties there.
The pilot and a passenger were killed when their Cessna 421 plane crashed in West Acres Mobile Park Monday night, the Steamboat Springs Police Department said.
Two trailers were “engulfed” by flames in the fireball accident, but residents have since been accounted for, the Routt County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Steamboat Springs Police Department said the pilot and a passenger of the Cessna 421 plane were confirmed dead at West Acres Mobile Park on Monday.
The Routt County Coroner is notifying next of kin. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” the Steamboat Springs Police Department said.
‘West Acres Mobile Park is open to residents only. We ask that people be respectful and stay away from the scene of the incident while the investigation continues.
“Firefighters and police will be on scene throughout the afternoon and into the night.”
The Routt County Sheriff’s Office described the plane as a Cessna 421 light aircraft, a six- or seven-seat twin-engine aircraft.
The plane is believed to have taken off from Longmont, Colorado, and was headed to Ogden, Utah, Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue said.

The city said 10 off-duty firefighters and first responders worked to put out the fire at two homes and several outbuildings.
Footage taken later that day shows smoke billowing from the mobile homes, two of which were left as blackened corpses.
One woman said her mother-in-law’s house was destroyed in the accident. “We are speechless and devastated,” she wrote on social media.
He added that no one lived in the house and that they had been trying to sell it.

The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the accident.
West Acres Mobile Home Park contains just under 100 trailers located on the west side of scenic Steamboat Springs, a town in the Yampa Valley.
It is home to Howelsen Hill Ski Resort and Steamboat Ski Resort.
