They were attacked at Trigg Beach at around 5.35pm on Wednesday.
The man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
“The shark is believed to be small in size,” the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development said.
‘Please observe any posted signage and take extra care in the Trigg Beach area.’
A shark was sighted about 10 metres offshore on the beach at around the same time as the attack.
Last month, a spearfisherman was bitten by a shark near Coral Bay, a remote beach about 1,200 kilometres north of Perth. His injuries were not serious.
