Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice and his fellow Kansas City receivers are backing Travis Kelce amid a difficult start to the NFL season.
Ahead of the reigning Super Bowl champions’ Sunday night matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, Rice and the receivers sported custom Travis Kelce jerseys to support the tight end.
While the Chiefs are a perfect 3-0 to start the season, Kelce has received a lot of criticism for his disappointing performances.
In three games, Kelce has made eight receptions for 69 yards and zero touchdowns, which is a low tally by his standards.
Last season, Kelce had 17 receptions for 155 yards and two touchdowns in three games.
Rashee Rice and her fellow receivers wore custom jerseys to show their support for Travis Kelce.
Even though the Chiefs were 3-0 to start the season, Kelce’s numbers have been disappointing.
The vintage-style jerseys featured a collage of photographs of Kelce with ‘Travis’ printed in red across the top front and the tight end’s last name in gold across the bottom. The back has the world ‘Dreamathon’ printed in gold above it and three photos of Kelce celebrating below it.
According to CBS Sports Tracy Wolfson“Rashee Rice got them for all the WRs in honor of their leader and a guy who has mentored them all, especially Rice.”
While Kelce struggled in the first few games, Rice and Xavier Worthy stepped up and led the team in receptions.
Rice’s start has been productive with 24 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Worthy made six catches for 81 yards and a touchdown.
The Chiefs opened their season with a 27-20 win over the Ravens, a 26-25 win over the Bengals and a 22-17 win over the Falcons.
On the other hand, Los Angeles began its season with back-to-back wins over the Raiders and Panthers before losing to the Steelers in Week 3.
