Two people have been arrested and arrest warrants have been issued for three others, including an alleged gang leader, more than two years after a father and son were killed in a broad daylight shooting on a suburban street.

Toufik and Salim Hamze were shot dead while sitting in a red van in Guildford, western Sydney, in the early hours of October 20, 2021, amid a series of public gangland murders.

Salim, 18, who police believe was the target of the hit, died in the van, while his father, 64, died later in hospital.

“The callous murders of father and son, Toufik and Salim Hamze, were one of the worst organized crime murders we have seen in Australia, in which an innocent man was caught up in violence and depravity,” Deputy Commissioner of the State Crime Commander, Mick. Fitzgerald said in a statement Wednesday.

One of those wanted is Rafat Alameddine (pictured), 30, alleged leader of the Alameddine criminal gang.

A 28-year-old man was arrested during raids on properties in Sydney’s west on Wednesday morning and is expected to be charged with two counts of murder and participating in a criminal group.

Another man, a 29-year-old man already detained in Goulburn Prison, is expected to face the same charges.

Arrest warrants have been issued for three other men, all of whom are believed to be hiding abroad.

Among those wanted is Rafat Alameddine, 30, alleged leader of the Alameddine criminal gang, along with alleged members John Ray Bayssari, 33, and Zaid Abdelhafez, 24.

Fitzgerald said now was the time for the men to return home.

“As you are no doubt aware, the arm of the law has a long reach and there are no safe havens to hide in,” he said Wednesday.

Four other men aged between 18 and 25 have previously been charged for their alleged role in the double murder.

Police said in December they were still searching for the getaway driver and the shooter, who was seen on CCTV footage sliding away before shooting at the ute.

Two other alleged Alameddine members are also wanted, including 33-year-old John Ray Bayssari.

Zaid Abdelhafez, 24, is also wanted.

Other alleged members of the criminal gang, John Ray Bayssari (left), 33, and Zaid Abdelhafez (right), 24, are also wanted for the brazen daylight attack.
