The family of an Australian tourist who died in a tragic motorbike accident in Bali will likely cremate his body.

Australian couple Thomas Cossins, 30, and Jasmine Sparreboom were on holiday on the island to attend a friend’s wedding when they went for a stroll on Friday morning.

The couple had left Seminyak at around 6.30am to travel to Canggu, where they met up with another cyclist, before heading into the mountains near Gitgit.

Mr Cossins, an experienced motorcyclist, was dressed in full gear and was cornering a Kawasaki Ninja when he lost control and crashed into a concrete pillar at high speed.

Denpasar Wangaya Hospital spokesman Ami Purnami said Cossins’ body was taken to the morgue on Saturday night.

“We are still waiting for the family or the consulate to take charge of the body,” they said.

The family is understood to be considering cremating Mr Cossins’ remains on Monday.

The update comes as horrific footage emerged of the aftermath of Cossins’ crash, in which his fiancée can be heard howling in anguish.

A passerby was seen running to get Mr Cossins away from his bike and check if he was breathing or had a pulse.

When they realised the Australian had died, the man closed Mr Cossins’ eyes and placed his hands on his cough.

Mrs. Sparreboom, Mr. Cossins’s fiancée, approached as the man began speaking to the gathered crowd.

He was heard screaming “no, no, no” and grabbed his partner’s leg while crying.

On Saturday, Ms Sparreboom shared a tribute to Mr Cossins calling him “the love of my life, my soulmate, my fiancé, my best friend”.

She said the Queenslander who had recently moved with her to Sydney had shown her “true love, true compassion, strength and loyalty”.

“You shine brighter than anyone I have ever met and I will forever be in your debt,” she wrote.

‘You have shown me a love I never knew existed and I will truly love you for the rest of my life.’

Distraught Ms Sparreboom added: “I will never forget you and will do everything in my power to honour your brilliance. Fly high with your mum.”

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it is providing consular assistance to Mr Cossins’ family in getting his body back home.

There was support online for Ms Sparreboom’s heartfelt tribute to her fiancé.

The tragedy occurred on Friday on the road from Denpasar to Singaraja, in Gitgit village, Buleleng regency.

“This made me cry. I could see how happy you were with Tom. Life can be so unfair. I’m so sorry,” one person wrote.

“Your kindness knew no bounds and your sense of humor could brighten even the darkest of days,” another friend posted on Instagram about Cossins.

‘You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know you.’

Mr Cossins was riding the sports bike when he lost control while going down a bend, apparently at high speed, local media reported, citing police.

“The victim drove into a ditch on the left side of the road and was crushed under the motorcycle he was riding,” said Buleleng police spokesman Gede Darma Diatmika.

“The victim suffered serious head injuries and was declared dead at Parama Sidhi Singaraja Hospital,” he said.

The latest tragedy follows that of West Australian worker Shane Ramsey, 30, who was visiting the Indonesian island for a wedding and was riding a motorbike in Seminyak when he crashed into a roadside pole on Sunday 18 August.

He was not wearing a helmet and did not have travel insurance.

According to a friend, Mr Cossins was in full riding gear and was taking a turn on a Kawasaki Ninja when he lost control and crashed into a concrete pillar.

Mr Ramsey was rushed to hospital where he underwent brain surgery and was in a coma.

His family paid $70,000 for him to undergo emergency neurosurgery and arranged for a medical evacuation flight, believed to have cost around $150,000.

He was flown back to Perth but his heartbroken and loving family later took him off life support when it became clear he would not recover from the horrific head injuries sustained in the crash.
