A stunning Gold Coast home has shot to the top of property wish lists across the country after being put up for auction for the first time.
Stunning photographs of the home, perched on the side of Mount Nathan in the Gold Coast Hinterland, “don’t do it justice”, according to those lucky enough to see it in real life.
The house, aptly named ‘Poorinda’, after a stunning variety of Grevilia, a sprawling native Australian shrub with unique flowers, has a natural, flourishing charm.
Located on a prized 3.58 hectare plot, the enormous main house and its extensive secondary homes can sleep up to 22 people.
Kerri-Lea Harris told FEMAIL that she and her family have called Poorinda home for 24 years after her mother first discovered the heavenly spot on the hill.
Now that her family has grown, she rents out most of it on Airbnb and Stayz, where it sells for more than $1,500 a night.
The farm has: several buildings including a three-bedroom house, a loft villa, a studio and a two-bedroom stand-alone cottage.
Each house has panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges creating a particularly beautiful panorama at sunset.
The 25-metre lap pool boasts stunning views and really comes into its own at dusk.
The huge terrace offers an incredible entertaining space that connects each building and makes the property feel less spread out.
The house feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, despite being only 20 kilometres from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast.
A relaxed and stunning poolside entertainment area is an ideal place to spend those sunny Gold Coast days.
The attractive rooms open onto the manicured gardens which feature a huge terrace for entertaining and an eye-catching 25 meter infinity pool.
“The pool was inspired by the idea of bringing water into the countryside’s mountain view,” Harris told FEMAIL.
The property has its own fenced paddocks, dams, a circular yard and horse stables.
The stunning photographs showcase the relaxed, easy-going style of the Harris family, who took the time and effort to make the property feel like a home.
The spacious interiors are flanked by large windows and glass doors and finished with wood flooring, slate, natural stone, fireplaces and even exposed wooden ceiling beams.
A separate patio is a lovely setting for al fresco dining with rolling hills towards the mountain ranges.
One of Poorinda’s comfortable and pleasant living rooms has plenty of sofas to gather around.
Exposed wood beams create warm and inviting interior spaces that flow effortlessly into the outdoors.
The villa’s kitchen features charming slate tiles and a comfortable dining and lounge area.
Balinese furniture and soft blankets in rich colors give the space a warm and friendly charm.
The atmosphere has been described as “earthy, comfortable, open and welcoming at the same time.”
Loving renovations to the property included the addition of a timber deck and spa, followed by the shed and stables.
The elegant and spacious villa residence is finished with light wooden floors and huge wooden beds fitted with white linens, and has a modern Balinese vibe.
The villa features four magnificent bedrooms, the most elegant of which is in the loft, and three full bathrooms.
A huge, nostalgic country kitchen finished with warm wood paneling.
This four poster bed is just one of many offered by this spacious property with the capacity to sleep 22 people.
All rooms open to stunning views of the mountains or the perfectly maintained property.
The elegant upstairs loft bedroom has beautifully appointed nooks with private sleeping areas.
The billiards room just off one of the several dining areas is a great place for family and friends to gather.
One bathroom features a deep soaking tub for relaxing soaks and is decorated with monochromatic vintage-style tiles.
It is a perfect space for a quiet and relaxed life, with many hidden corners to enjoy peace and tranquility.
The stunning decks, balconies and terraces offer ample space for relaxation, inspiration and reflection on the beautiful views and gardens.
The design brief was to “maintain the country charm in a modern way with Aboriginal antiques and artwork,” Kerri-Lea said.
The elegant interiors and natural surroundings create an elevated and relaxing living experience, and visitors to the home often tell Kerri-Lea that the property is truly incredible.
Kerri-Lea describes the ever-changing twilight throughout the days and seasons as the most special thing about Poorinda.
Modern glass windows open to the spectacular view inside.
All interiors take advantage of the stunning views that surround the estate.
The spa has made many aspiring residents dream of peaceful nights under the stars.
The stables are an attraction for all horse lovers and were built by the family.
“The photos don’t do it justice,” he said, explaining the beauty and serenity of the property.
The outdoor spaces are resort-like, with exotic trees, paved paths, and huge potted plants.
The relaxed and expansive feel of the homes’ exterior flows effortlessly through decks, verandas and patios into the homes’ inner sanctuaries.
Kerri-Lea’s vision of “creating a space for all extended families to enjoy” is a vision she has achieved.
The hidden mountain enclave of Mount Nathan seems like another world, but it’s just a 30-minute drive from the Gold Coast, with its famous beaches, dazzling locals and bustling designer shopping mecca, Pacific Fair.
Wine enthusiasts will love the local Mount Nathan Winery, with the Tamborine Mountain Botanical Gardens are also nearby.
The impressive, sprawling home was also one of the first Australian properties rented on Airbnb and has hosted weddings and events on its grounds.
