A Channel Nine news presenter was forced to stop mid-bulletin on Friday morning.
Today presenter Jayne Azzopardi was reporting on a devastating car crash on the Gold Coast, Queensland, when her voice faltered.
The 44-year-old veteran presenter appeared to choke at one point just as the story began.
After a brief period of coughing, Azzopardi appeared to recover and continued.
He later explained that the interruption was due to a snore in his throat.
“Excuse me,” Azzopardi said, apologising to the audience.
She then continued: “I’m not sure what’s wrong with my voice this morning.”
The news presenter, who replaced Brooke Boney last month on Nine’s breakfast show, took a sip of water to clear her throat.

The accident occurred as Azzopardi reported that the 37-year-old man involved in the car crash on the Gold Coast fortunately escaped unhurt after hitting a fence and overturning his utility truck.
This comes after Brooke Boney shocked Today show viewers in March when she announced her resignation on live air.
The 37-year-old news and entertainment reporter confirmed she will be stepping down from her role after the Olympics in July and August to pursue an exciting new career opportunity.
Last month, Channel Nine confirmed that Azzopardi, who co-presents Weekend Today with Clint Stanaway, would replace the popular journalist.
Azzopardi joined Nine in 2009 as a political journalist in Canberra before joining the Sydney newsroom in 2011.
She was also previously a news presenter for Weekend Today and was appointed as presenter in April 2023.
Meanwhile, Australian entertainment reporter Renee Bargh will join Today on a “more regular basis” alongside veteran Richard Wilkins.
Bargh worked as a weekend co-host for Today Extra and also co-hosted The Voice Australia alongside Darren McMullen in 2020.
Boney broke down in tears when she announced in March that she was leaving Today and moving abroad to study for a Masters in Public Policy at the prestigious University of Oxford.
“I have some very important news for you this morning. I have been offered a place at Oxford University later this year, which means I will be leaving the programme after the Olympics,” Boney said on air at the time.
Azzopardi said the 37-year-old man who was driving the truck when it crashed into a fence and overturned was unharmed. Pictured: the devastated vehicle
“I don’t want to go into too much detail right now, because there will be plenty of time for goodbyes and thank yous, but I just wanted to share that good/bad news with you all this morning.”
She admitted that the decision to leave her role on the show was “really difficult.”
“I had always dreamed of being able to study at a foreign university and I felt that it was the right time to take that step,” she explained.
After a brief coughing episode, Azzopardi seemed to recover and continued. He later explained that the interruption was due to a snoring sound in his throat.
“I’m so grateful to be able to come here every day and I love you all so much. This has made the decision very difficult but it means you will all have to plan trips to the UK to come and visit me.”
Boney first joined the Today Show in 2019 as an entertainment reporter, replacing longtime editor Richard Wilkins, who moved to Today Extra.
Last year, Boney was promoted to news anchor, replacing Alex Cullen, who moved to focus exclusively on sports.
