A musician has been left furious by what he claims is damage inflicted on his guitar case by Jetstar baggage handlers.
Posting on Facebook this week, the musician, who asked not to be identified, showed photos of his prized possession vandalized.
He said he was wrecked on a flight from Melbourne to Launceston in Tasmania.
The damage occurred even though he wrote them a special note politely asking them to take special care of the precious luggage.
In photos shared online, large chunks of the case’s outer shell had been torn off, including the latch to close it, and there were cracks along almost its entire length.
A furious musician has posted an image of the damage caused to his guitar case during a Jetstar flight from Melbourne to Launceston.
The musician also showed the note he had taped to the case that said “Please take care of me” and “This instrument is my income” with two hand-drawn smiley faces.
“I’m almost shocked at the damage to my case,” the man told Seven News.
“I think it’s related to the big containers they put on the planes and maybe the fact that they don’t have their own crew.”
Jetstar told Seven News it had offered to reimburse the passenger for the cost of a new case and the tape he needed to buy to hold the damaged case together.
The musician said he was almost shocked by the amount of damage that had been inflicted on his case.
The damage occurred despite the man putting up a notice asking handlers to take special care with the instrument.
Despite this, the passenger said he would never fly with Jetstar again.
Commenters on the post also expressed outrage over the damage.
“As someone who always flies with a guitar, this is super scary,” one person wrote.
“That’s serious mismanagement.”
“It’s like it was deliberate,” another wrote, and another person picked up the same topic saying, “They saw this as a challenge.”
‘Something’s not right here. It looks like he was run over by a Sherman tank. Mmmm,” wrote another.
Jetstar has been contacted for comment.
