A thug who dragged his naked girlfriend out of their home before pouring a jug of boiling water on her, leaving her with horrific burns, has been jailed.
Simon Terence Hamiora Kereopa and his victim had drunk a “large amount” of alcohol on the night of the attack on February 3 last year, police said. New Zealand Herald reported.
The couple began arguing and at 3.30am the victim called her friend and asked her to pick her up from her home in Raglan on the North Island of New Zealand.
But before the friend arrived, Kereopa dragged the naked woman through the kitchen door and down the stairs, before grabbing a teapot from inside and pouring its contents over her.

As he carried out his attack, he said, “You deserve it and that’s what you get.”
He threatened to boil the kettle and attack her again, so the woman ran to her daughter’s room and hugged her.
Kereopa followed him and said, ‘Once you let go, I will burn your face.’
At that moment the woman’s friend arrived and she was able to flee.
She took a cold shower, swam in her friend’s pool and slept until 3:30 p.m. the next day, when she was taken to the hospital.
Doctors discovered that the woman had suffered burns to 12 percent of her body, including her left upper leg, shoulders, neck and left arm.
The burns were so severe that the woman had to have the burned areas of the fabric removed and dressed again.
Judge Stephen Clark told the court Kereopa had 17 convictions for domestic violence, eight of which were against the woman he attacked.
Speaking to Kereopa, the judge said: ‘You know that this particular set of events was degrading. Drag her naked outside of her and pour boiling water on her, whether you were drunk or not.
Kereopa was sentenced to three years and one month in prison for causing grievous bodily harm with intent to injure.
