Human remains were recovered from the East River in New York City, in full view of shocked children on a famous carousel.
A city Parks Department police officer found the remains — a skull and some bones, believed to be human — along the shoreline of Brooklyn Bridge Park near Dock Street around 8:45 a.m. Monday. According to the New York Daily News.
The gruesome discovery came just metres from Jane’s iconic carousel, which was built in 1922 and donated to the park in 2011 after years of restoration.

The discovery came less than 24 hours after officers pulled a man’s body from the water in another part of Brooklyn, the Post reports.
The remains of the dead man, believed to be in his 30s, were discovered near Pier 12 shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday.
