State of Origin never fails to deliver drama, but some unfortunate New South Wales fans will be left in the dark after an unexpected power outage in western Sydney.
More than 1,300 Sydney fans will be in for a disappointment when a blackout knocked out their power just before the first game of the 2024 State of Origin series at Accor Stadium.
Endeavor Energy has reported unplanned outages affecting more than 1,300 homes in Carlingford, Parramatta City.
The power provider said the outage is under investigation and that power will not be restored until around 2am.
Locals received text messages apologizing for the inconvenience and confirming the 2 a.m. restoration time.

The blackout occurred just as the first wave of Blues fans arrived at Accor Stadium for Origin I.
More than 1,300 homes have been affected by the power outage that may not be resolved until well after midnight.
In the State of Origin series, the New South Wales Blues fight to regain the shield from the Queensland Maroons, who have dominated the last two years.
The Blues are under new management with Michael Maguire replacing Brad Fittler as coach. This move came after two disappointing years for the Blues, and Maguire quickly made his mark on the team.
