Simone Holtznagel has launched an attack on her ex-boyfriend Jono Castano as she spoke for the first time about their heated altercation.

The 31-year-old model, who is raising the ex-couple’s daughter as a single mother, said Star Magazine that she “couldn’t change” the man she thought she loved.

“I wanted to set an example for my daughter, that’s something that changed for me. One day I thought, ‘What am I doing? This is not right.’ I would hate for her to be in that situation,” she said.

“At the end of the day, you have to do what’s best for you. No matter how many promises or whatever else people make to you, when they show you who they are, believe them. Because you can’t change people.”

Simone said she is glad she raised her five-month-old baby, Gia, alone and is confident she made the right decision.

“I’ve never felt more confident about anything and I know I can do it alone. It’s a shame that I have to do it alone most of the time, but I couldn’t think of it any other way, honestly,” she said.

“What I’m doing feels right. The most important thing to me is that Gia is happy and healthy, and that I am happy and healthy too,” Simone continued.

“Because I firmly believe that if the mother is unhappy, it is difficult to have a happy child. And I feel that Gia right now is a reflection of me, as she is a very content and happy little girl.”

Simone and celebrity personal trainer Jono, 33, welcomed Gia on Easter Sunday.

In May, Jono confirmed that he and Simone decided to part ways in May, just nine weeks after the birth of baby Gia.

“Who knows what the future holds, our goal is simply to be the best parents for Gia at this stage,” she told Daily Mail Australia in a statement at the time.

A close friend of the couple later revealed that Simone and Jono’s relationship had been destined to end for quite some time.

A source said The Daily Telegraph that several friends and family warned Simone that her modeling lifestyle was not compatible with Jono’s fitness influencer career.

The first sign of trouble came when Jono posted photos of himself on a luxurious holiday in Thailand days after Gia’s birth on March 31 without Simone and their baby.

While many of Jono’s followers were quick to gush over the snaps, Simone did not like or comment on them.

Talking with Women’s healthSimone addressed the positives and negatives of being a “single” mother, despite apparently sharing parenting duties with Jono.

Simone, who has yet to comment on the split, also failed to mention Jono in an apparent attack as she thanked her family and friends for supporting her.

When asked about the aspect of motherhood that surprised her, Simone shared: ‘Positive: I can do this alone. Negative: I’m doing this alone.

‘My family and friends have done everything they can to help me, and I’m lucky that the negative moments are much easier when they’re by my side.’

Despite the challenges of motherhood, Simone described being a mother to baby Gia as an “absolute joy” and admitted it hasn’t been as difficult as she expected.

“Every day I tell myself, ‘This is the last day she’ll be this little,’ and that helps me enjoy even the smallest or most difficult moments,” she added.

Her comments came in a candid Q&A to promote her new campaign with Nala called Sorry To Offend You, which aims to break the stigma around breastfeeding in public.

Jono showed his support for her campaign this week as he appeared to be trying to win back his girlfriend, weeks after publicly confirming their split in July.

Gym owner Acero left a sentimental comment under a post about her promotion on Instagram, showing Simone breastfeeding her daughter Gia.

“This is very good, very well done,” he wrote, apparently using her nickname for her.

His gushing comment came days after he was seen leaving flowers at the “postpartum hotel” where Simone was staying with her newborn Gia in an apparent attempt to win her back.

Simone’s campaign comes after she has kept a low profile following the shocking news of her split from Jono that emerged last month.
