Following her successes at the Paris Olympics, Simone Biles will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at her time in Paris with her new Netflix series.
The series ‘Simone Biles Rising’ already had two episodes released on Netflix last month, with two more coming this fall.
Already released episodes detailed Biles’ time in Tokyo and her road back to top form for Paris.
Two more episodes will chronicle her legendary career at this summer’s Olympics.
“We’re all going to see her on the field. But it’s two hours out of five or six days, so what’s it like the rest of the time?” says producer Katie Walsh. He told PEOPLE.
Simone Biles’ trip to Paris will be featured in upcoming episodes of her Netflix series
“It’s been fantastic to be able to just be a fly on the wall and experience it a little bit through their eyes, I mean, there’s no better person to experience the Olympics with,” Walsh continued.
One of the most anticipated moments of the documentary is the moments after Biles was officially included in this year’s Olympic team, prior to her debut in Paris.
“It’s where all the athletes go to get their gifts and everything they need, and we got to meet her there,” Walsh added. “We got to live the whole experience with them as they try on their clothes, receive their outfits for the opening and closing ceremonies, the overalls they wear on the podium if they win a medal.”
“They get measured for the official Olympic rings and everything. It was a lot of fun, especially for this team,” Walsh said.
One of the most surprising things for Walsh was seeing every gymnast on Team USA except Biles compete in a non-pandemic Olympics for the first time.
Even when Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey traveled to Tokyo for the Olympics three years ago, the process was much stricter.
“Everyone is experiencing this for the first time and they are especially grateful because they knew they had missed out on it three years ago,” Walsh said. “It was a really fun day and Simone is so much fun.”
“She laughs and makes everyone laugh and makes fun of clothes a little bit and just makes a fool of herself,” Walsh concluded. “It’s so nice to spend time with her in that kind of environment, when she doesn’t have the weight of the world on her shoulders at that moment.”
