Jonathan Owens was nicknamed 'Mr. Biles' during his blocked punt touchdown on Sunday

Simone Biles was recognized on a livestream after her husband, Jonathan Owens, scored a touchdown in the Chicago Bears’ season opener on Sunday.

Owens got the score off a blocked punt against the Tennessee Titans by Daniel Hardy.

Owens, the safety and special teams player, picked up the ball and scored, celebrating by spreading his arms along the way.

NFL announcer Adam Amin called the action, telling viewers, “Mr. Biles coming in there!”, referring to Owens’ gold medalist gymnast wife.

Responding to a clip of the performance on X, formerly known as Twitter, the gymnastics icon wrote: “I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK.”

She also shared the clip on her Instagram Story and added: ‘LFG! LANDING FOR MY HUSBAND.’

While Amin had no intention of stirring up controversy, his comment brought to mind (for some) the time he appeared on the “Pivot” podcast earlier this year.

In that episode, Owens claimed that he didn’t know who Biles was before he was in a relationship with her.

He also claimed to be “the prize” of their relationship during that interview, which seemed to spark some controversy.

It even forced Simone to respond to the criticism, in which she defended him and implored people to stop calling him “Mr. Biles” in a hurtful way.

“They are being blatantly disrespectful to my relationship and my husband,” Biles said at the time.

“I’m going to say this once: with all due respect, fuck you. And if you keep commenting or tweeting at me, I will block you. Simple as that.”
