A wild fight between parents broke out on the sidelines of the women’s junior rugby league grand final, forcing police to be called in and the match to be cancelled.

Shocking footage obtained by Seven News showed a man running onto the pitch before throwing a punch towards another spectator.

A brawl then ensued, with people seen wrestling each other and throwing themselves to the ground, punching each other and one man even having his shirt torn.

The fight is known to have started after a referee made a decision that one of the team’s supporters was not happy with.

“It’s disgusting, we’re here for the kids,” witness Chad Nepia told the network.

“We were on the other side of the field and saw the police appear about half an hour later.”

NSW Police said in a statement they were called to the sports field on Swallow Drive at about 9.45am on Saturday.

“On arrival, officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were told that two male spectators had become involved in an argument and one of them had left the ground,” the statement said.

‘A short time later, the man returned with other accomplices and a fight ensued; however, the group left the area before police arrived.’

Unfortunately for the players, the match had to be cancelled due to violence.
