This is the shocking moment a fight broke out on a jetty after passengers began arguing over who would get priority to catch the next ferry home from an idyllic Italian beach.
Dozens of sun seekers were seen at Lido Schiacchetiello, in Bacoli, Naples, fighting on the quay and on board a boat.
Witnesses who captured footage of the chaos told local media that the mass argument broke out after passengers began to disagree over who had priority to enter the boat first.
A shocking clip from the drama shows a rowdy group of people in swimsuits hitting each other on a small boat rocking in the water.
One man can be seen repeatedly slapping another commuter in the face before punching him in the back.
Chaotic footage captured the moment a man was thrown from a pier onto a boat during a fight on a jetty in Italy
Witnesses said dozens of men could be seen throwing punches at each other as they argued over who would get the next ferry home.
The fight quickly spread from the boat to the dock as the men in bathing suits kicked and punched each other.
The fight then escalates as the men on the boat begin attacking another group of men standing on the dock while yelling at each other and waving their arms.
As they push and shove each other across the wooden bridge, one unfortunate beachgoer is violently thrown from the dock before landing on the boat full of angry fighters.
Despite this, the fight continues between the men as one of them steps off the dock and onto the boat while another continues to punch on land.
The dock quickly fills with fighting individuals while several spectators stand in the crystal clear waters and watch in shock.
According to the witness, there were also some Neapolitan TikTokers among the rioters.
Eventually the fight reaches a stalemate and several men can be seen climbing onto the rocking boat before it takes off.
The viral clip from July 22 was shared by MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli on Instagram, where he spoke of his disappointment at the unnecessary violence.
She wrote: “In Varcaturo, women fought over a sunbed in the front row. The scenario, the gender and the motivations have changed, but not the violence that is returning to the beaches.”
Just two weeks ago, sun worshippers brawled on an Italian beach after being denied access to sun loungers in a prime spot near the coast.
The rescuers refused the requests and a brutal fight broke out between the women and the public, with footage showing them fighting and pulling each other’s hair.
The men stumbled over each other as the fight continued.
The small boat could be seen rocking and tilting in the water as several men tried to climb aboard.
Witnesses said the women turned on beach lifeguards who had been trying to pull them away and the fight continued for “more than half an hour.”
The violent scenes occurred in the seaside resort of Varcaturo, near Naples, where families were enjoying a day out.
Continuing on Monday’s violent brawl, Borrelli said: ‘A merciless scene before the impassive gaze of many tourists and children.
‘Any excuse is good enough to give free rein to violence, to barbaric instincts, to degradation, to subcriminal forms. In reality, we cannot speak of triggers, they themselves are the reason for the violence that is intrinsic to their being.
‘These individuals cannot be together with others, they cannot transform beaches and public places into circles, salons, territories of conquest.
‘For this reason, we have long proposed the creation of a Metropolitan Tourist Police force that can guarantee security and order in these places frequented by numerous citizens and visitors, keeping away those wrongdoers who must be reported and severely punished.’
Bacoli Mayor Josi Della Ragione also echoed Borrelli’s concerns, saying in a social media post: “Get out of Bacoli! I have initiated the procedures to order the urban daspo against the group of thugs who yesterday, in the waters of Bacoli, gave rise to an unworthy fight.
‘We will also denounce them for the damage they caused to the image of our city. A physical clash that mortifies thousands of good people who live here.
‘Anyone who does not care about Bacoli, as well as the most elementary rules of civil life, should not set foot there again.
“We will do everything possible to identify those responsible for the attack immortalized in so many videos posted on social media.”
