Police are urgently searching for a diver who went missing off the Gascoyne coast in Western Australia.

The 30-year-old man was last seen on Tuesday afternoon near Red Bluff at Quobba Station, about 970 kilometres north of Perth.

The man failed to surface while fishing and diving about 800 metres from the shore with two of his friends.

The man’s friends alerted the police about his disappearance.

Specialised diving teams have been deployed to the area in an attempt to locate the man.

Crews are coordinating the search for the missing diver.

Marine rescue volunteers from further south at Carnarvon also arrived in Red Bluff to assist with the search.

A drone has also been used in the efforts.
