Sanna Marin posed for a photo with Hillary Clinton, after they both participated in the 2024 Global Summit of Women Leaders at the Bellagio Center, Italy.

The former prime minister of Finland, 38, who left politics last September to join the Tony Blair Institute, shared snaps of the event on her instagramwhere he has more than a million followers.

The jet-setting mother of a son expressed her “honour” at having participated in the conference, which was chaired by former US Secretary of State and ambassador Melanne Verveer.

In the first photo in the gallery, Sanna, wearing a sophisticated white lace ensemble, smiled as she posed alongside Hillary, 76, who wore a chic all-navy trouser suit.

The aim of the summit is to “facilitate reflection and strategic discussions on the persistent barriers faced by women leaders around the world and to address current and growing global conflicts that disproportionately affect women and girls.”

Sanna also revealed that the event, co-organized by the Rockefeller Foundation and Georgetown University’s Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS), this year featured the participation of “women activists and peacebuilders from Afghanistan, Sudan, Ukraine and Yemen, as well as Israel and Palestine.”

In his caption, he expressed how the summit leaders drafted a statement and letter to the UN Secretary-General ahead of a meeting of Special Envoys and Special Representatives on Afghanistan taking place in Doha, Qatar.

“It is a scandal that Afghan women are not represented at Doha III and we insist that Afghan women have a seat at the table,” Sanna wrote.

“This is the time for the UN and the international community to demonstrate unwavering commitment to Afghan women and girls who are victims of draconian abuse and gender apartheid under Taliban rule.”

Footage from the event showed Sanna enjoying the Italian landscape and weather, as well as participating in educational talks and conferences.

Snaps and clips showed her enjoying the views while sipping coffee, taking glamorous selfies and smiling in group photos surrounded by senior political figures.

Sanna was the world’s youngest prime minister when she took office in 2019. She lost Finland’s general election to the country’s conservative party leader, Petteri Orpo, in April 2023.

Last May she announced that she was divorcing her husband Markus Räikkönen after 19 years together.

His recent trip follows a recent visit to New York in April.

Earlier this year, Sanna shared personal snaps from the trip to her instagram stories, including a casual walk through Central Park.

The world-traveling mother of one flew to New York just days after visiting Berlin, where she stopped by to see a Holocaust memorial and the German health ministry.

However, this time he seemed to have embarked on a more social trip where he apparently enjoyed lunches and cocktails with friends.

In her stories, Sanna posted a photo of passersby near Radio City, which she tagged “New York.”

The photograph captured the essence of New York tourism, including its famous yellow taxis and towering buildings.

During her trip she also attended a “working lunch” with friends, where she enjoyed a fish salad with leafy greens and a main course of fresh bread.

Later, the former social democratic leader and two friends filmed a selfie video while walking through New York City’s sixth largest park, Central Park.

For the trip, she donned an off-white coat that she paired with black leggings and matching black accessories.

She and a friend then posed up a storm while sitting in front of a large water fountain.

As Prime Minister of Finland, Marin was one of Europe’s youngest leaders and oversaw her country’s successful application to officially join NATO.

Announcing his resignation from politics, Marin told Finnish broadcaster YLE that it was “time to move on.”

She said: ‘I’m looking forward to taking on a new role. I also think it can benefit all of Finland.

“I believe I can serve those voters well (in Finland) and perhaps even better in my new mission.”
