In a lengthy caption, he explained that he had been suffering from osteoarthritis after tearing the cartilage in his right hip.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease in which joint tissues deteriorate over time and is more common in older people.

She wrote: “Hip, hip, hooray. New hip, new me, no problem. A few weeks ago, I had a total hip replacement.

‘After a very active, outdoor childhood (and a skiing accident 30 years ago), I tore all the cartilage in my right hip.

“It was a bone collision and then it developed into severe osteoarthritis. I am very proud of how strong my body is and how well I have recovered.

‘I am now truly bionic… and my loved ones are glad they will never have to see me limp in pain again.

‘A huge thank you to the wonderful nurses at @stvincentshospitalsydney for the care, a bit of Endone (pic 5), lots of rehab and to all my beautiful friends for my flower filled room!.. xx
