Extraordinary footage shows how a Ukrainian FPV drone operator blew a Russian assault ship out of the water in the Dnieper Delta.
The ship and Putin’s seven soldiers on board were thrown into the air by the force of the explosion.
The stormtroopers landed in the water and most were seen swimming towards Nestryha Island in the Kherson region, which Russia has been trying to control since last year.
In scenes too graphic to show, survivors of the ship explosion were killed by grenades launched from drones as they reached the island.
Drone warfare has become a central part of Ukraine’s defense since Putin launched his invasion in 2022.
The attack took place in the Kherson region, where Russian and Ukrainian troops continue to fight for control.
A report on the ambush said: ‘It is noted that there were several boats, in which more than 15 occupants disembarked….
‘The Birds of Madyar (drone unit) disrupted the Russian operation and eliminated at least seven Russians.
“Note that Nestryha Island is the last one before the mouth of the river and, in fact, the last island on the right bank.”
As such, it is strategically important “as positions on the island allow bombardment of the Kherson region, on the right bank, with mortars and artillery.”
Both Ukraine and Russia have developed attack drones as military weapons as war continues to ravage Europe.
This comes as Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that Moscow will retaliate with strikes on British targets if Ukrainian troops use British weapons to attack Putin’s territory.
Zakharova told reporters that in such a scenario British objectives could be achieved “on the territory of Ukraine and beyond its borders.”
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova speaks during a news conference in Moscow, Russia.
This stern warning comes after British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said Ukraine had the right to use weapons provided by London to attack targets inside Russia.
He said: “Just as Russia is attacking inside Ukraine, you can perfectly understand why Ukraine feels the need to make sure it defends itself.”
Russia responded with indignation to Lord Cameron’s claim, citing it as one of the reasons it has chosen to hold exercises this month to simulate the launch of tactical nuclear missiles.
“This is a direct escalation of tension around the Ukrainian conflict, which could represent a potential threat to European security,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Meanwhile, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps accused China of preparing to provide lethal aid to Putin’s forces in their ongoing war with Ukraine.
Speaking at a conference in London on Wednesday, Shapps said British defense intelligence had evidence that “lethal aid is now flowing, or will flow, from China to Russia to Ukraine, I think that is a significant development.”
