Russell Brand claimed to have found God in the middle of Hurricane Milton in a video posted thousands of miles from the eye of the storm.

A strange post on X shows the disgraced comedian in Miami, who is not in the path of the Category 3 hurricane.

Walking down a dark street, the 49-year-old embarks on an incoherent attempt to link the storm to his new self-proclaimed Christian faith.

Brand says: ‘In the midst of this crazy storm in Florida – and I pray for those of you who are most directly affected – (it’s worth it) to think about how the storm metaphor affects us all.

‘Like the animals, I think we can sense that something unusual is happening and pray for the people of Tampa, Sarasota and all those who are directly affected by this elsewhere.

“Matthew taught me that when the Apostles were dealing with a storm, Peter first asks when he sees our Lord in the water “Are you?” and you don’t get out of the boat until you know it’s Jesus, until you know it’s the one. Lord who says “yes, come”, he says yes and you can get off the boat.

‘But unlike Peter, when you are out of the boat you have to keep your eyes fixed on the Lord because if you take your eyes off Jesus the storm could devour you.

Brand was accused of rape, assault and emotional abuse in a joint investigation last year by Channel 4’s Dispatches, The Times and The Sunday Times.

He has strongly denied all allegations about his behavior, which allegedly took place at the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013.

Continuing his speech on social media, Brand describes the storm as a test of the power of God.

“I guess the storm is a demonstration of the almighty power that is beyond our control,” he says. ‘As a metaphor, it helps me understand that I must listen and watch for Christ.’

Since December 2023, Brand has published several posts about his growing relationship with Christianity.

Last month, the 49-year-old was photographed performing a baptism in his underwear with the caption: “It may seem a little early to baptize people, but the Apostles did it on the first day, so here we are.”

He also uploaded a video interpreting the Bible, in which he expressed his gratitude for God’s sacrifice.

‘How can we understand with the limited conscious mind that God Himself came down to earth and was sacrificed, so that we could be redeemed and resurrected, so that we could have eternal life? With our limited consciousness, it is not possible,’ he said. .

Brand was baptized in the Thames in April after turning to religion following allegations against him.

He said he felt “nourished” and “like a new resource” had “ignited inside me” after his own baptism.

It comes as Hurricane Milton continues to carve a path of destruction across Florida, leaving several people dead and ripping off the roof of Tropicana Field as it heads toward Orlando and continues into the Atlantic.

The first casualties were reported even before Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm at around 8:30 pm EST (1:30 am BST), causing “catastrophic” flooding, 120 mph winds and several tornadoes, some of which which were lethal.

After making landfall, Milton began heading east, destroying everything in its path before smashing the roof of Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team in St. Petersburg.

At least 117 tornado warnings were issued in communities across the state overnight and into this morning, with dozens reported to have materialized and wreaked havoc.

More than 3 million homes and businesses were without power this morning in Florida.
