What is a vasectomy and what are the risks?

A vasectomy, or male sterilization, is a procedure to cut the tubes that carry a man’s sperm to permanently prevent pregnancy without additional contraception.

It can usually be done under local anesthetic and takes around 15 minutes, according to the NHS.

The procedure is usually only performed on older men, and surgeons are often reluctant to perform it on people under 30 if they regret it later.

The NHS lists possible complications as being a collection of blood inside the scrotum (haematoma), hard lumps called sperm granulomas (caused by sperm leaking from the tubes) or an infection.

Prolonged testicular pain is another possible complication that may need additional surgery to manage.

The percentage of men who experience this pain is debated, with different numbers cited by different sources.

Hilary also captioned her post: “Surprise surprise!”

Despite the challenges that come with being a parent, Hilary admits she wouldn’t have it any other way.

She told WHO magazine: ‘I can’t imagine not being a parent. But I don’t always like them…it’s totally exhausting. It is also the best, most rewarding.’

Hilary recently admitted she missed her pre-pregnancy body when she shared a throwback photo online.

Alongside the mirror selfie, she wrote: ‘I know I’m becoming human but I miss this part of me.’

The How I Met Your Father alum pulled her blonde locks back into a low bun with a center part.

She accessorized with gold jewelry that included chunky hoop earrings and a necklace.

A dark gray purse was tucked under her arm as the pair stood outside their vehicle in a parking garage.

Last June, Hilary spoke Form about raising three children.

“I’ve had to get really good at being disappointed in myself,” she told the publication.

She added: ‘I think when you have a baby, you’re just wired to think that you’re filled with all the answers and all the possibilities, and we’re still just human.’

The proud parent also noted that motherhood is ‘endlessly rewarding’ and shared: ‘I just love watching my children shape into their own individual unique selves.

‘I love (parenting) with my husband. I love feeling that hugs and hugs can make everything better. I love the pressure of saying, “How the hell are we going to get through this day?”

‘And make it through the day and say, “I don’t know how everyone is tucked in and full and happy after all the things we’ve had to do today.”
