The war of words between Latrell Mitchell and Anthony Mundine appears to be over after the Rabbitohs fullback ended their public spat on social media by calling for “the great debate (racism) to rest… for now”.
Indigenous athletes Mitchell and Mundine have different opinions on Ezra Mam’s racist saga, and ‘the Man’ Roosters prop Spencer Leniu didn’t cross the line on the Las Vegas field with his ‘monkey’ insult , as he himself has a Samoan background. .
Leniu has since been charged with contrary conduct by the NRL and, despite pleading guilty on Thursday and apologizing to Mam, faces a suspension of at least six weeks.
Mundine maintains that Leniu’s comment is “not racism” and called on Mom, and her followers like Mitchell and Cody Walker, to “toughen up.”
“When two brothers are brown or black… they are called black C or this or that, but that’s what they are,” he said.

It didn’t take long for Mitchell, himself a previous target of racism, to respond to the Dragons football star turned world champion boxer.

Spencer Leniu is set to receive a lengthy ban from the NRL judiciary after admitting the vile insult against Ezra Mam during the Roosters’ win over Brisbane in Las Vegas.

A mature Mitchell finally ended the dispute, Posting on Instagram, while draped in an Aboriginal flag. – “The great (racial) debate will have to rest for now.”
He added that, in relation to the different opinions, it is important to “take it into account, learn (along the way) and move forward.”
