Nancy Pelosi, in a surprising turn, changed her story about how Joe Biden dropped out of the race

Nancy Pelosi, in an interview with ABC’s The View on Monday, revealed that she has not spoken to Joe Biden since he was forced to drop out of the presidential race and argued that a Democrat should be in charge come January 6 when the 2024 election is certified.

That means the duo hasn’t spoken in Almost a month and a half.

Biden dropped out of the presidential race on July 21 under a Democratic pressure campaign orchestrated by the former House speaker, who was worried, like many in the party, that Biden would lose the White House to Donald Trump and take House and Senate Democrats down with him.

Pelosi was prepared to go public with her concerns, DailyMail.com revealed last month, if Biden did not resign voluntarily.

The former president told ‘The View’ that it wasn’t about ousting Biden, she really just wanted him to run a better presidential campaign.

“What I wanted to say is that we need a better campaign,” she said. “It’s not that he’s not running. It’s just that if this is the case, we need to run in a different way.”

Pelosi then effusively praised the president.

“The president made his decision patriotically, selflessly, the most consequential president of modern times. He has been a great president of the United States,” he said.

Biden, 81, and Pelosi, 84, had a close friendship dating back to their nearly 50 years together on Capitol Hill and spoke often.

Pelosi’s ultimatum is said to have infuriated the Bidens and virtually ruined the friendship between their families.

It wasn’t just Pelosi who put pressure on Biden after his disastrous performance in the June 26 debate with Trump.

Other party bigwigs, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, told Biden they no longer believed his candidacy was viable.

Asked by the DailyMail last month if he was still angry with Pelosi or had spoken to her recently, Biden simply replied: “No, I haven’t spoken to her.” He added that it was he who made the decision to withdraw.

Biden’s departure resulted in Kamala Harris becoming the party’s Democratic nominee. She is currently tied with Trump in the polls.

Pelosi, who holds the title of speaker emeritus and still wields massive power in the House, also had a warning ahead of the Nov. 5 election: Put Democrats in charge of the House or prepare for another Jan. 6.

Control of Congress will also be at stake this November.

The new lawmakers will be sworn in on January 3, meaning they will take office on January 6, the day Congress officially certifies the 2024 presidential election.

“The fact is, Hakeem Jeffries should be speaker of the House,” he told The View hosts of the current House Democratic leader.

“He should have that gavel. He should have that gavel on January 6th. I had the gavel on January 6th. It made a difference in what happened that night. He should have that gavel, and I would say in this particular year,” he added.

Then-House Speaker Pelosi, along with then-Vice President Mike Pence, certified the results of the 2020 election on January 6, 2021, with Biden defeating Trump. Trump falsely claimed he was the real winner.

That day, his supporters stormed the Capitol and broke into it in an attempt to overturn the election results.

After several hours, the US Capitol Police were able to regain control of the building. Pelosi, Pence and the other lawmakers returned to the House chamber and certified Biden’s victory.

Trump has already hinted that the 2024 election will be stolen from him and has said he will jail people “engaged in unscrupulous behavior” related to voting.

‘WHEN I WIN, those people who CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, including lengthy prison sentences so that this Depravity of Justice never happens again,’ he wrote on his Truth Social account on Saturday.

‘We cannot allow our country to continue to degrade into a Third World nation. AND WE WON’T!’

Following the November 2020 election, Trump and his allies lobbied to overturn the results with phone calls, tweets and lawsuits in key states.
