Emily Maitlis was berated by co-presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy after she swore live during Channel 4’s US election coverage.
The former BBC journalist was criticized by her fellow presenter on two separate occasions for swearing. during the station’s eight-hour broadcast, prompting calls for Ofcom to intervene and sanction his behaviour.
Just hours later, Maitlis mysteriously disappeared from the show before Guru-Murthy alleged she “started swearing” and promised to “tell her off later.”
But after returning to the studio, she sparked outrage again after using a curse word while criticizing Donald Trump’s claim that illegal immigrants in the United States ate dogs and cats, which she described as “bats***.”
Guru-Murthy was forced to intervene again telling the 54-year-old to “stop swearing”, before Maitlis apologized and added: “How else could you describe it?”

At around 5am this morning, Maitlis left Channel 4 coverage to pursue another work project, in which Guru-Murthy addressed his co-hosts about on-screen behaviour.
He said: ‘I’ll tell Emily off later because I know she started swearing. It may be midnight in Britain, but they’re still a bit sensitive about such things.
Later in the show, the former Newsnight presenter was again reprimanded by her co-presenter after letting a curse word slip.
She said: ‘It’s not that they don’t agree on one thing. Everything is asymmetrical.
“When Donald Trump talked about eating cats and dogs, half of America thought, ‘These are bats.’ I can’t believe what he’s saying. This will be the end.”
Mr. Guru-Murthy then intervened saying, ‘Stop swearing. I have to scold (the guests) for saying bad words and then you do it before Maitlis apologizes.
Elsewhere during the programme, Johnson was also harangued for promoting his memoir Unleashed, which has been serialized by the Mail.
When asked by Maitlis if he still wanted Trump to win, the Mail columnist joked: “Well, as I say in my book Unleashed…”, to which Mr Guru-Murthy interjected by saying “leave it, stop it, stop it.”

Johnson, 60, spoke about his meeting with Donald Trump, before mentioning Unleashed again.
Johnson said he met with former US president and Republican candidate Donald Trump after his assassination attempt in July.
“In case I haven’t mentioned this, I’m promoting my book Unleashed and I talked to him about Ukraine,” he joked to the camera, while holding up a copy of his book.
When asked about following in Trump’s footsteps regarding a political comeback if he were to win the presidential election, Johnson said: “The answer is obviously contained in Unleashed, where you will find the full discussion on this topic.”
Maitlis then told him: ‘Not all of us are going to read your book, so tell us if you want to have a political comeback… Actually, you can’t answer a single question.’
Mr Johnson replied: ‘By the way, Emily, I’ve been answering all your questions all night. I’m currently happily busy promoting my book Unleashed, available in all good bookstores.’
Johnson, 60, has been promoting his new memoir titled Unleashed after its release last month.
The 784-page book looks at Johnson’s time as prime minister, from 2019 to 2022, including Brexit and the Covid pandemic.

Actor Brian Cox also spoke of his despair at the direction of the vote on Channel 4 last night, offering a bleak outlook on a Trump victory.
“It’s the most crucial election there’s ever been in my lifetime and we have to make sure he (Trump) doesn’t get in, because he’s a monster, he really is.”
‘He’s crazy. He’s crazy. He wants to be a dictator.
‘What he has been talking about has become so clear that I don’t know why the American people don’t listen to him.
‘The kind of nonsense he’s been talking. I think he’s lost it. I think he is deeply mentally unstable.
