Julie Bowen has given a preview of what the humor will be like in the long-awaited sequel to Happy Gilmore.

The American actress, 54, played the love interest of the title character (Adam Sandler) in the original film which has since become a cult comedy classic.

But the Modern Family star revealed in this week’s report Stellar problem that the team behind the sequel will take a different approach to comedy in the upcoming film.

‘I think comedy (as a genre) has become less specific and hurtful. “I don’t put that on Adam,” he told the publication.

‘I’m just saying you wouldn’t make gender slurs or (jokes about) sexual orientations anymore.

‘You would be ashamed of things that were perfectly accepted 20 years ago. And thank God. I hope I’m not on screen doing any of those things, but I might be.”

Despite the different approach that Hollywood star Adam, 58, appears to be taking in the sequel to his iconic hit film, some things will remain the same.

Julie claimed that the main character, Happy Gilmore, “hasn’t changed much” and “is still not always happy, or else he would be boring.”
