Mo Salah will roll over in his bed tonight repeating his fundamental failure against Atalanta, Peter Crouch believes.
The Liverpool star squandered a golden opportunity in the first half of Liverpool’s Europa League second leg in Italy.
Salah found himself one on one with Juan Musso, who had run off his line, but he fired the ball wide and the score remained 1-0.
Had Liverpool gone into half-time with a 2-0 lead, the second half would have been much more nervy in Bergamo, but the Reds were unable to break down their stubborn opponents.
“The great one was Salah. For Salah with his left foot, dribbling like this, the goalkeeper has left in no man’s land. It’s an easy ending,” Crouch told TNT Sports.
Mo Salah missed a crucial opportunity in the first half as Liverpool were knocked out of the Europa League by Atalanta.
Crouch, who used to play for Liverpool, believes Salah’s recent lapses in form and his profligacy in front of goal affected his confidence in taking advantage of the opportunity.
“If he scores goals for fun, as he usually does, I think that’s valid. It is not so difficult. He just got out of his shin. “He is completely wrong,” he stated.
“That’s what’s going to go through your mind tonight because that was in the first half and it could have been a lot different.”
Gary McAllister agreed, saying: “It landed beautifully on his left peg.” He would have put his mortgage on Mo Salah to take advantage of that opportunity. It was a simple opportunity for someone of his ability and he will regret having failed.
Even when he’s having a bad game, Salah always has the ability to put that aside and when he has opportunities like that, you always want him to score. It was a bad mistake for someone of his ability.
