Mel Schilling bravely spoke out about her battle with cancer and shared the touching moment she told her nine-year-old daughter Maddie about the diagnosis.
The Married At First Sight darling, 52, revealed late last year that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer and subsequently underwent surgery to remove a tumor she nicknamed ‘Terry’.
In an interview with OK! magazineMel explained that Maddie has a “nine-year version” of understanding what cancer means and its implications.
“She knows I’m having chemo and she knows that when I get an infusion, I’ll be tired and need more cuddles, and she’s there for it,” Mel said, highlighting her daughter’s caring and protective nature.
“She understands it in her own way.”

Mel’s journey has not been a lonely one. She spoke warmly of her husband, describing him as her “rock” during this difficult period.
“He’s been through a tough year because he’s had pain in his life, but he’s still been there for me,” she revealed, expressing gratitude for his unwavering support.
Earlier this year, Mel gave an update on her condition during an interview with Magic FM, speaking candidly about her experience with chemotherapy.
In an interview with OK! magazine, Mel explained that Maddie has a “nine-year version” of understanding what cancer means and the implications of it.
“To be completely honest, I’m feeling a little depressed today,” she said, describing the effects of her treatment.
‘I’m going through chemotherapy, I’m on my third cycle and I’m starting to feel a little sick. I used to say that I feel like I’m hungover, like I’ve been drinking all night.
The reality TV host revealed her shocking health battle in December and underwent colon surgery just before the end of the year.
He explained that his tumor, which he named ‘Terry’, was removed by doctors in the United Kingdom.
However, as the cancer spread through the colon and into the muscle, Mel discovered she needed chemotherapy and began treatment in late February.
