Responding to the incident, State MP for Buderim Brent Mickelberg – who has three children who attend the school – said he was grateful no one was injured.
“I am aware of the worrying incident at Buderim Mountain State School this morning and have spoken to staff and parents who are to be commended for acting so quickly to protect students,” he said.
‘Thank you to the police who were quick to respond to the incident and arrest the man.’
The man’s intentions are still unknown, but it is believed that police have had ‘previous dealings’ with him.
In an email to parents, principal Neil Jenkins said the school was in dialogue with the students involved.
The man is expected to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on April 12.
