This comes after a 12-year-old boy tragically fell 50 feet from an escalator in India and died after his pants reportedly got caught in the railing while he was playing at the top.

The boy fell at the Nucleus shopping center in Ranchi, eastern India’s Jharkhand state, on June 22, 2019.

Footage shows him playing near the top of the escalator at the mall as other shoppers go up and down, but then he falls over the side and loses control before falling.

The video, which was filmed by CCTV inside the shopping complex, initially shows the boy standing at the top of the escalator as other shoppers pass by.

He puts his hand on the motorized rail in an apparent attempt to stop it before he is joined by two other children standing next to him.

But he suddenly lunges forward and can’t help but fall over the side, despite frantically trying.

He still holds on with his right hand over the drop to the ground below.

The boy is then briefly dragged down as the escalator descends before he loses control and disappears from view as he falls.

Vishvendu Jaipuriar, a local journalist who witnessed the incident, said: “The boy was rubbing his body against the conveyor belt of the escalator.

‘He was playfully trying to stop with all his might. In the process, his pants got stuck in his belt and he was dragged along.’
