Honor: Julia Hoggett
A host of business leaders have been named in the King’s birthday honours.
London Stock Exchange chief executive Julia Hoggett and fashion designer Anya Hindmarch were knighted, while HSBC chairman Mark Tucker was knighted.
Energy bosses Greg Jackson of Octopus Energy and Alistair Phillips-Davies of SSE have been appointed Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for their services to the industry.
CBEs were also awarded to John Burns, founder of property group Derwent London, Taylor Wimpey boss Jennie Daly, former Unilever boss Alan Jope and venture capitalist Jon Moulton.
Hoggett took over at LSE three years ago, becoming the exchange’s first lesbian boss.
She is the daughter of Baroness Hale, once Britain’s most senior judge, and last weekend told the Mail on Sunday that her “privileged” upbringing shows there is much more to do for diversity.
‘Because I’m a woman, I’m a mother and I’m openly gay, I’m often held up as some kind of big proof that we’ve figured it out.
“I’m proof that we haven’t made it because I come from a very privileged background.”
