Kristie McBride, 39 (pictured), was stabbed in the head and torso during an alleged fight in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, south of Sydney, on November 22 last year.

Murder charges have been filed against three teenage girls allegedly involved in a wild street fight in which a heroic mother was allegedly stabbed to death.

Kristie McBride, 39, was stabbed in the head and torso during an alleged fight between two groups of girls outside a home in Warrawong, in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, south of Sydney, on November 22 last year.

Ms McBride died in Wollongong Hospital 10 days after the alleged attack.

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with murder following Ms McBride’s death.

Six teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 have been charged in connection with the fight, as well as the victim’s sister, Carly McBride, who was then 37.

Additional murder charges have since been filed against three girls who were friends of the first girl charged with murder.

The new charges were confirmed in the Port Kembla Youth Court on Tuesday, when the matters of four girls were mentioned, ABC reported.

Two of the girls remain behind bars in pre-trial detention.

The three girls recently charged with murder are due back in court later this month, where prosecutors are expected to seek to revoke the bail of two of the teens.

Two teenagers also appeared in Port Kembla court in a separate hearing on Tuesday.

One girl, who was 17 at the time of the fight, pleaded guilty to affray, while another pleaded guilty to being armed with an instrument to commit an indictable offence.

Following the guilty pleas, the agreed facts were presented to the court.

They revealed that a group chat was created on Instagram the night before the fight, to organize the fight between the two groups of teenagers.

The fight would see the group of four teenagers now charged with murder take on another group, including two 17-year-old girls who are also currently before the courts.

ABC reported that documents alleged that a 15-year-old girl in the first group suggested she would “whip them all” because they “spoke badly about her and her sister.”

“You can bring girls to my house (censored), I’ll blow their minds,” the 17-year-old replied.

In the group chat, the 15-year-old, initially charged with murder, made a total of 11 violent threats against the 17-year-old’s younger sister, according to the facts.

The facts revealed that he allegedly told the girl: “I will gut you like a fish” and “not before I cut you open.”

A meeting was arranged between the girls at 2 p.m. on November 22.

The agreed facts stated that three of the teenagers “stole three knives” from a Wollongong supermarket on the morning of the fight and both groups of girls threatened each other violently during the day.

After noticing the threats in the group chat, Carly McBride asked her sister to come to her house “to feel safer”

The agreed facts state that after the four teenagers arrived with other youths, Carly McBride was found wielding a metal baseball bat, while a teenager at a Warrawong home was armed with a piece of wood.

The ensuing fight was filmed on two mobile phones.

One of the teens was allegedly beaten by Carly McBride with a baseball bat, before Kristie McBride approached another girl.

The facts indicated that the 15-year-old girl allegedly “swung the knife toward Kristie McBride’s head, causing a 6-centimeter laceration to her left parietal scalp and a 2-centimeter laceration to her left forehead.”

Kristie McBride was then allegedly stabbed twice in the stomach.

The agreed facts were established as she began to walk away from the scene of the fight, she said, “That little asshole stabbed me.”

One of the 17-year-olds flagged down a police car and Carly McBride allegedly chased the teens armed with a bat.

The facts indicate that the 15-year-old girl gave her knife to a friend, who allegedly threw it less than a kilometer from the scene, which was found shortly after by the police.

Three of the teens were arrested at the scene, the 15-year-old who police say stabbed Kristie McBride was not arrested.

The court heard the 15-year-old later replied to the Instagram chat: “Is your girl dead?”

“It looks like the stab wound is pretty deep, you might want to send her to the hospital.”

On Tuesday, Magistrate David Williams sentenced an 18-year-old woman to 12 months’ good behaviour bail on a charge of affray.

His co-defendant will be sentenced at a later date.

Judge Williams said that although there was “no doubt” she took part in the fight, she played a “relatively minor role”.

He told the court the defendant committed “violent acts” and only stopped when she saw one of her opponents armed with a knife.

“(His death) has had a profound effect on (the defendant), as it has had a profound effect on all those involved,” Judge Williams said.

“This is a terribly tragic incident and all those involved bear responsibility for what happened.”
