Klay ThompsonIs awesome decision to leave the Warriors Joining the Dallas Mavericks was an exciting experience for him, for Golden State and for nostalgic basketball fans around the world.

But the 14-year NBA veteran is adjusting to his new home. So much so that Thompson took to social media to poke a little fun at two of his former Warriors teammates while previewing their future matchups.

Thompson on Saturday shared an Instagram post from @StoicArchives highlighting a scene from “You Got Served,” a 2004 dance film.

In the scene, Thompson is supposed to be “Sonny,” a dancer who left his group to join the rival. In the same clip, Steph Curry and Draymond Green They are members of Thompson’s former team and are dancing with the Mavericks’ new big three: Kyrie IrvingLuka Dončić and Thompson.

Thompson, obviously finding the post quite funny, added a brief comment.

“I’m crying!” Thompson wrote on her Instagram story. “Sonny changed his attitude quickly!”

Sonny changed quickly, in fact. He cost his former team a lot of money and revealed his dance moves.

You’d expect Thompson not to do the equivalent in the NBA… Golden State’s complete playbook revealed and cost his former Warriors teammates money.

He informed his long-time employer of his decision days in advance, even after distant communication between the two sides, and helped Golden State orchestrate a sign-and-trade to recover valuable assets.

The Warriors ultimately received two second-round NBA Draft picks and the financial flexibility to sign free agent guard De’Anthony Melton in return.

Additionally, Thompson’s departure helped Golden State fall under the luxury tax, which has long been a point of emphasis for Warriors owner Joe Lacob.

Seeing Thompson alongside Curry and Green in a social media skit is weird. Things will get even weirder when Golden State and Dallas face off during the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.

If Thompson doesn’t act like “Sonny,” then the Mavericks’ new forward and the Warriors roster should remain on good terms.
