Captioning the video, Kate wrote: ‘We haven’t had a car since Vickie Volvo was stolen and Percy Peugeot had to return, but thanks to some amazing friends who helped lend me a new @volvocaruk C90. I love it!!!

‘It’s not an advertisement, just a passion! Feels like old times with your hands on a @volvocars steering wheel, although bittersweet as this would have been the perfect car to take Derek in and out with plenty of room for a hoist and wheelchair in the back .

‘But I know he would approve and he’s arrived just in time to take my mum and dad on our annual trip to Cornwall with ALL the Garraways!’

He concluded the message by joking that his father was worried about his driving skills and asking his followers for name suggestions for his new wheels.

She wrote: ‘Dad is a little tense because I’m driving, but relieved that it beeps every time I’m near an obstacle! Now you just have to find a name for it? I hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday xxx’.

It comes as Kate has been hit with a £32,000 bill from liquidators for closing Derek’s psychotherapy business after being left crippled by a £700,000 tax bill.

The star has been ordered to pay a fixed fee of £32,000 as well as 40 per cent of the assets recovered from psychotherapeutic company Astra Aspera.

Kate is already £1.5million in debt for the cost of caring for Derek and the money she owes the taxman.

Liquidators are now investigating the possibility that there are other assets that could be used to pay off the company’s debts. Sun reported.

Kate previously revealed she resorted to withdrawing money from her pension to pay Derek’s huge healthcare bills.

In an ITV documentary in April, the star admitted she couldn’t even afford to have the heating on in October.

Kate revealed she took money out of her pension to pay for Derek’s late medical bills, after sharing the results of a GMB survey, which revealed one in five Britons go into debt while funding private healthcare.

She said: ‘I am also doing something similar.

‘I have had to withdraw the tax-free part of my pension to pay the overdue bills of my husband, who has since passed away.

“People are having to do things (it wasn’t a huge pension to begin with) that aren’t what they saved for.”

On a recent episode of Good Morning Britain, he said: “It’s only when a crisis hits that you suddenly think hmm.”

“I have experience of this, Derek fell very ill in March 2020. I knew he had some pensions, I had a small one that I knew about.”
